Susan Perkins
Danville Clinical Director

In her over two decades of service with Prairie Center, Susan Perkins has helped grow our Danville facility from a small satellite office to a full-fledged outpatient treatment center for Vermilion County.

She started her career at Prairie Center as an Addictions Counselor working with adults just a few months after we opened our Danville office. She gradually increased her responsibilities and eventually became the Danville Clinical Director.

Today as Clinical Director, she is responsible for overseeing all issues related to the facility, services, and staff for services for Vermilion County residents. She manages four program areas, including Adult Outpatient Services, the Vermilion County Drug Court program, Youth Outpatient Services, and Juvenile Detention Center Services.

I never stop wanting more people to embrace recovery because that means more families becoming whole, better parents raising happy children, and a healthier society.

Prior to coming to Prairie Center, Susan worked for nearly six years with the U.S. Probation Service. As a Probation Officer, she often worked with Prairie Center. While with Probation, Susan was also studying to earn her Master’s degree in counseling from Eastern Illinois University. She left the Probation Service to pursue a job in counseling because she wanted to play a larger and more direct role in helping people. And so she made the jump from the government sector to the nonprofit world – and never looked back.

“I just love this work. I never stop wanting more people to find embrace recovery because that means more families becoming whole, better parents raising happy children, and a healthier society.”

Born in Danville, Susan has deep roots in the community and is very committed to giving back and helping the people of Vermilion County.
