Prairie Center is dedicated to helping youth and teens develop a lifestyle free of substance abuse. We provide a range of youth-focused programs and services spanning prevention and treatment.

Our youth treatment services are designed to meet the needs of youth struggling with substance misuse or addiction to drugs or alcohol. Treatment options are available for youth aged 12 to 17 (older if they are still in high school). We use a harm reduction model that takes a flexible and individualized approach with each youth we see. Treatment plans are based on a comprehensive assessment and focus on identifying treatment needs and issues in the areas of both substance use and mental health.

Beyond treatment, Prairie Center also has a number of other prevention and intervention-focused youth services. Every day – school year and summer – our Youth Prevention & Education team is active in over a dozen east central Illinois schools, providing youth and teens in the area with important prevention and education information and skills. Staff counselors also regularly visit Champaign and Vermilion County schools and the Juvenile Detention Centers to assist youth with substance abuse issues.

We also offer Parenting with Love & Limits, a program that brings parents and their behaviorally-challenged teen together to learn and work for change, reducing aggressive behaviors, depression, and substance use while also reducing recidivism and improving family communication.
