Laura Huth,
Director of Development & Communications

With over 20 years of nonprofit experience, Laura Huth leads Prairie Center’s fundraising and communications needs. Her duties include coordinating annual fundraising campaigns, major and special giving opportunities, and special events as well as marketing the work of the Center through website, social media, and online and community-driven communications, including visual and written storytelling.

Her previous experiences include founding and running the Illinois Student Environmental Network and serving as Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity of Champaign County.

Sharing the life-changing work we do at Prairie Center with the community drives me every day.

Laura also served as an elected member of the Urbana City Council for eight years, and co-founded several community groups, including a neighborhood organization that won the Governor’s Hometown Award.

Laura is an award-winning communicator who has been recognized as Woman of the Year, Small Business of the Year, and Outstanding Fundraising Executive by various entities across Central Illinois. Most recently she was named a Difference Maker by the Champaign County United Way.

In her free time, Laura does freelance nonprofit consulting work, runs a small cottage landscaping and interior design company, loves to cook, and is writing a book.
