Dr. Narain Mandhan,
Medical Director

Dr. Narain Mandhan, a Board Certified Physician in both Internal Medicine and Addictions Medicine, has been with Prairie Center since 1995.

In addition to his work with us as Medical Director, Dr. Mandhan practices at Kirby Medical Center in Monticello. He also serves as Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign’s College of Medicine where he educates the medical residents he supervises about addiction medicine.

I love that I am able to help patients with mental health and substance abuse problems recover, get their lives back, and get back to work and be part of the society.

Dr. Mandhan oversees the treatment of all clients receiving substance abuse services at Prairie Center, including those in residential treatment at our Hill Street facility. “As an Internist and Addictionist, I treat the patients with addiction as a whole, taking care of their regular medical problems, addiction issues, and their underlying mental health issues. This increases chances of successful treatment and decreases the chance of relapse.”

He attended medical school at Sindh Medical College in Pakistan and completed his residency in internal medicine at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He was named Resident of the Year 1995-1996 at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He also received the Rural Physician of Excellence Award in 2007 from the Illinois Rural Health Association.
